Anssi Lassila Speaking on Sustainable Wood Construction in Berlin

Anssi Lassila will be speaking at a conference on Sustainable Wood Construction in Berlin on November 21, 2023. The event is an exclusive networking meeting intended for professionals interested in sustainable wood construction.

The conference brings together German and Finnish experts and practitioners. They will exchange their experience and knowledge on the practice of building with wood. The event also provides an opportunity to learn about the similarities and differences in the regulatory frameworks and conditions for wood construction in the two countries.

Best Policies and Practices in Sustainable Wood Construction in Germany and Finland

The agenda for the event is composed of two parts. In the morning, focus is on policy and collaboration. In the afternoon, best practices are in the center of discussion. Two keynote speakers, Aylin Lundius of Scharabi Architects from Germany and Anssi Lassila of OOPEAA from Finland, will share their views on current architectural trends and present inspiring projects from the field of wood construction. Their lectures will be followed by company presentations by participating Finnish companies.

The program also features a networking lunch to provide an opportunity for getting to know stakeholders of the wood construction sector. It takes place in the Felleshus, the cultural center and event venue of the five Nordic embassies (Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden) in Berlin. The day will be concluded with one-on-one meetings between the Finnish and German participants.

The conference is part of the Low Carbon Built Environment program organized by Business Finland. The event is free of charge but requires registration. Kindly note that there is a limited number of spots.

In the lecture in Berlin on November 21, 2023, Anssi Lassila will present two recently completed projects as examples of the potential of CLT as a contemporary building material. The new campus house for the STEP Professional Training Center in Järvenpää is an education building made with CLT. The new guest house, Käenpoika in the Rauhalinna Castle complements the carefully renovated old castle building with a contemporary building that improves the functionality of the castle grounds without burdening the delicate main building that has been landmarked for its cultural and historical value.
