Bryggman Seminar 2024

This year, the focus of the annual seminar is modern wood architecture. The day-long program features talks by Anssi Lassila of OOPEAA, Mikki Ristola of AOR, Mia Åkerfelt from Åbo Akademi, and Jukka Koivula of Arkkitehtitoimisto Jukka Koivula.

The seminar is organized by the Bryggman Institute. It is part of their educational program. It is free and open to all. However, registration at info@bryggman.fi is recommended. The seminar will be complemented by an excursion to visit sites of wooden architecture in Turku on February 3, 2024.

In his lecture, Anssi Lassila will discuss the potential for scalability and flexibility in modular wood construction. He will reflect on the benefits of building with wood in light of practical experience from a range of projects of different scales. He will draw from various projects by the office as examples.

Bryggman Institute

The Bryggman Institute is a national and international research and development unit for architecture, the built environment and construction, which creates a creative center for architecture and construction research in the Turku region. The institute provides professional continuing education in the fields of architecture, construction and land use. In addition, the institute creates models for architectural education of children, youth and adults.

The institute also monitors and promotes the implementation of architectural political programs in Finland and Turku. It is supported by the Bryggman Foundation, an organization dedicated to cherishing the humane architectural heritage of architect Erik Bryggman and interior architect Carin Bryggman. The mission of the foundation is to promote and support interdisciplinary research and development work in architecture, the built environment and construction.
