The winning entry proposes a new residential entity combining typological research on housing and wooden prefabricated structural elements in a new and fruitful design. The building complex combines straight and curvy shapes into a whole diverse volume.
The masses are arranged so that the apartments benefit of optimal sun insolation, during day and evening; the courtyard is bathed in light as long as possible. Despite the tightness of the block, the building is arranged so to create a cozy and at the same time communal courtyard, while the housing units also have private and quite small yards, arranged on different levels. The main facades of the buildings are cladded in painted wood gives rhythm and parts the balconies, window-openings and glass parts.
The building staggers from 1 to 3 floors adapting to the sloping terrain and allows direct access to the apartments, balconies and terraces that open towards the view. On the east side of the building, a group of newly-planted apple trees will allow residents to enjoy communal self-gardening on the sunny southern slope.
