The Suvela Chapel has been nominated one of the four final candidates for the Finlandia Prize for Architecture 2016  The Finlandia Prize The Finlandia Prize for Architecture was established in 2011 by SAFA, the Finnish Association of Architects. Periscope Tower is now open to the public

The Periscope Tower is a giant wooden periscope structure that serves as an observation tower and engages the viewer in a dialogue with the landscape. With the help of a large mirror the Periscope Tower makes it possible for everyone to enjoy the views of the surrounding landscape. OOPEAA wins competition for designing a new apartment building in Jätkäsaari, Helsinki

OOPEAA’s proposal “Karlsson” wins the invited architecture competition for designing a 4-6 storey apartment building in Jätkäsaari to form a part of the larger entity of block 20828. The competition was organized by Lakea in collaboration with the City Planning Department, Helsinki and SAFA, the Finnish Association of Architects.   Karlsson takes its cue from Helsinki as a city of roof scapes where the rich and varied roofs form one façade of the buildings. PUUKUOKKA WINS THE WOOD PRIZE 2015

The Puukuokka Housing Block designed by Anssi Lassila / OOPEAA has been selected winner of the Wood Prize  2015. The Wood Prize is awarded annually as a sign of recognition to a building, interior or structure that represents Finnish wood architecture of the highest quality or in which wood has been applied in a way that advances research and development in construction techniques in a significant way. The prize was given out for the first time in 1994 and it is now awarded for the 18th time. The prize is awarded by the Wood Information Center Finland.

Lassila Hirvilammi is now OOPEAA

Lassila Hirvilammi Architects takes on a new name. Beginning in June 2014 the office will operate under the name of OOPEAA Office for Peripheral Architecture. The new name puts their vision for architecture in the center. The office was originally founded by Anssi Lassila in 2001 under the name of Lassila Mannberg Architects and has operated under the name of Lassila Hirvilammi Architects since 2004 until now.
